Outreach Programming

Beginner Robotics

Discover how robots are made and how they perform tasks. You become the engineer and design a program for your robot! Build a simple LEGO® WeDo robot and learn the importance of programming.

Grade Level: 3-5

Crazy Coasters

Explore force and motion as you work together to build a roller coaster. Put the force of gravity to work in the marble challenge. Engage in a hands-on experience to understand the science and design process that goes into engineering your favorite roller coasters.

Grade Level: K-5

Racing Forces

Start your engines and get ready to explore how contact and non-contact forces give our race cars the energy they need to zip towards the finish line. Gear up for the race by exploring forces and motion as you learn about contact forces, magnetism and gravity. Measure the motion each can produce as you isolate variables and record data to see science at work.

Grade Level: K-5

Build It!

Practice the engineering process from problem identification to building a solution. Choose from designing a maze for a cockroach, creating a stable structure, building a paddle boat, or construct a tall tower.

Grade Level: K-5

Gross Science

Let’s get gross and explore the inner workings of our bodies, ruminate about runny noses, and dive into digestion. Explore the functions of your body through experiments that simulate how your body works. Learn why it's so important to keep your body healthy!

Grade Level: K-5

Science of Minerals

Rocks, minerals and masterpieces, oh my!  Rocks and minerals make up the world around us. Artists and engineers, both use rocks and minerals to make everything from masterpieces to cutting edge technology. Discover the unique physical and chemical properties of rocks using observational skills, analytical ability, and material culture around us. Be both an artist and an engineer during this program.

Grade Level: K-5

Wonders of the Ocean

Seventy percent of the earth’s surface is ocean and it is filled with animals. You might collect seashells on vacations, but rarely critically think about the ocean, the animals that live there, and how they survive.  Refine your marine biologist skills through interactive activities.

Grade Level: 1-3

Windy Weather

To predict the weather, you have to understand it. Through hands-on experiments, you'll see how a change in air pressure can affect an object, understand how hot and warm molecules act, and even make a cloud!

Grade Level: 2-5
